Seller: Catterson Vintage Books, Clinton, NY, U.S.A.
First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. I am pleased to offer another vintage book that was published in Utica, New York in the early nineteenth century. On offer: A Concise Treatise Upon the Powers and Duties of the Principal State, County and Town Officers, by A Gentleman of the Bar. This small hard cover book (4 ½ x 7 ¼ inches, 144 pages) was published by William Williams, publisher and printer of Utica, New York, dated 1831 and a First Edition with the same date on title and copyright pages. This book is bound in marbled, paper-covered boards with a quarter spine in leather and gilt titles on the spine. I will include photos of the Table of Contents for your further information with the caveat that the font is so small, it may be impossible to read them. Condition: This book is in good condition. The hard covers are rubbed and bumped with some small loss at the top and bottom of the spine. The gilt titles on the spine are worn and hard to read. Inside, a former owner has left his penciled and inked name on several places on the first and last blank pages. There is a large water stain which although light, affects the entire book and ¾ of each page. Fortunately, the legibility of the text is not affected. There is no foxing or any real soiling within. Both hinges are cracked but the binding is still tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
