Book First Edition
Hard Back. Condition: Fair. Prittie, Edwin John (illustrator). Assumed First Edtion. 352 pages including Appendix - Robin Hood and the Ballads. Green boards with illustrated front paste-on. While this book appears tattered on the outside and worn all pages remain relatively tight. No marks or stamps or other markings to the interior. Three-fourths of the spine covering has loosened completely from one side (needs tape repair?). Front hinge is loose but firmly attached. Front endpaper has ex-libris paste-on. Contents in 25 Chapters: How Robin Hood Became an Outlaw, Robin Hood Meets Little John, Will Scarlet Joins the Band, The Curtal Friar, How Robin Hood Dealt with Sir Richard of the Lea, The Wedding of Alan-A-Dale, How Robin Hood Won the Sheriff's Prize, Guy of Gisborne Seeks Robin Hood, Robin Hood Meets a Tanner, How the Sheriff Gained a Queer Servant, The Sheriff Spends a Night in the Greenwood, Robin Hood Meets Geroge-A-Green and Then a Beggarman, Friar Tuck and the Bishop of Hereford, Robin Hood Meet with a Tiner by the Way, The Bishop Tries His Own Hand, Robin Hood Becomes a Butcher, How Robin Hood Saved the Widow's Sons, Robin Hood Meets Maid Marian in Sherwood Forest, Sir Richard of the Lea Pays His Debts, Robin Hood Sells Pots in Nottingham Town, Little John's Adventurres as a Beggar, How Robin Hood was Seized by the Sheriff, Will Stutely Falls Into a Trap, King Richard Comes to Sherwood, and Robin Hood Shoots His Last Arrow. My count of illustrations is a Frontispiece and two others on p.48 and p.168 in full page color, and 16 black and white. However the List of Illustrations includes one titled "The Arrow Took Him Through the Right Shoulder" as being on page 111. I believe this listing without inclusion is likely a printer error.
