The jacket does show moderate edgewear, with several small chips missing, as well as a 1/2" piece missing (slight loss to the Appleton logo) from the spine bottom, and a 1" piece missing (loss of the "E" THE) from the spine top. Book jacket has light soiling, but the body of the jacket is very good, and jackets from juvenile books of this period seldom survive, so this is a scarce piece. Photos upon request.

The story is filled with interesting scenes, both at the luxurious Spanish court and in the wilder parts of Philip's kingdom which Isabella visits during a long journey on muleback. Dona Isabella's adventures, like the author's Doris Decides and The Scratches on the Glass, is a vivid, absorbing story, written in Gladys Blake's happiest vein.
