Unathorized biography of of entertainer Eddie Fisher (1928-2010). A native of South Philadelphia, Fisher's boyhood nickname was "Sonny Boy" (after the Al Jolson song). He sang in many local venues beginning in his teens and was eventually "discovered" by Eddie Cantor at Grosinger's Resort in the Catskills. By the 1950s he was selling millions of records and had a television show. Fisher was as well known for the femaale company he kept and the women he married; he married Debbie Reynolds in 1955 (their daughter Carrie Fisher was born in 1956) but divorced her to marry Elizabeth Taylor after Taylor's husband (and Fisher's best friend) Michael Todd was killed in a plane crash in 1958. He later had a two-year marriage to actress Connie Stevens. In films he appeared both in musical comedies and dramas.
