Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Scarce 5-volume set of Harry Middleton Hyatt's compilation of regional hoodoo, conjurations, witchcraft, rootwork and spells. Two of the volumes are inscribed/signed by Mr. Hyatt. There is a worn spot on the top edge of Volume 5.The 5 volumes total 4,754 pages. Provenance has been established. The last owner of the set is the daughter of the people to whom Mr. Hyatt inscribed the books. The owner's parents moved to Omaha and lived with her family through the 1960s. In 1970, her parents returned to Illinois and were the resident managers of the apartment building in which Mr. Hyatt lived. They lived there through the 1970s, and returned to Omaha in the early 1980s and lived the remainder of their lives in Omaha. Volume 3 is signed/inscribed in 1974. Volume 5 is signed/inscribed in April, 1978. Note that Mr. Hyatt died in December of 1978. Inscriptions: Vol. 3 "To Mr. and Mrs O. J. Mc- with the compliments of the author. Harry Middleton Hyatt January 29, 1974." Vol. 5 "To my friends and neighbors Mr. and Mrs. O- J- Mc- with the compliments of the author, Harry M. Hyatt April 22, 1978." The books are 8" wide and 10 1/2" tall. Inscribed by Author(s).
