Herbert Parrish. Flowers and Still Life (Walter T. Foster Art Book No. 151). Tustin, CA: Walter T. Foster Publishing, c.1970s. Large softcover, 13 × 10 inches, stapled binding, 50 pages including color throughout ("20 Extra Pages All Color!"). One of the classic Walter T. Foster instructional series, this title guides the reader through the painting of floral still lifes with emphasis on underpainting, color mixing, form simplification, and composition. Richly illustrated with Parrish's step-by-step color plates and palette charts for oil and acrylic work. Includes complete catalog of Foster art books and 35 mm slide sets at rear. Condition: Near Fine. Bright, glossy covers with minimal edge wear; clean, unmarked interior; binding firm. A well-preserved example of this oversized instructional classic. Herbert Parrish (20th cent.) was an American painter and illustrator known for his instructional collaborations with the Walter T. Foster art series. His works emphasize classic still-life composition, tonal layering, and the luminous color effects characteristic of post-impressionist oil technique. Parrish's clear, step-by-step teaching style helped generations of artists master floral subjects and painterly realism.
