Brown cloth stamped in white with cover design of magician's hands and top hat. 738 pps. with frontispiece photo of the Professor and with 266 illustrations in the text. Hoffmann has added a new preface for this edition as well as two additional chapters, "New Miscellaneous Tricks" and "Recollections of Hartz The Wizard". A tight copy with some of the white border lining on the front cover rubbed away, spine lettering gone although the spine does not appear rubbed or faded.

The author, born John Lewis Angelo (1839-1919) used the pseudonym, Professor Hoffmann, because of his profession as a lawyer. His most famous book was Magic Tricks (1876), which had three successors.
