While this short story adapted to comic book form has been described by most sources as a work of fiction, it is actually the telling of a real event in Hunter S. ThompsonÕs life in 1991. Thompson meets with a wealthy sheltered Southern California couple who are in the process of publishing ThompsonÕs first finely printed limited edition signed book of short stories. While the names of the people and town have been fictionalized, the rest is the real story of Thompson running amuck in his indulgences while at the same time putting the rebel-worshiping couple in their proper place. A morality tale for the Gonzo generation written by one of the participants using a pseudonym to protect the guilty.

Wrappers. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Oblong 8vo, 61 pp., 24 color plates, several b&w photos. Good only, with significant overall rubbing and handling to wrappers, heel of spine bumped, wrapper and page corners lightly bumped, and unfortunate 1" stain at top of fore-edge also affecting adjacent page margins not more than 1/4", with interior otherwise clean and unmarked; title page gently creased at upper corner. A copy in less-than-collectible condition, priced accordingly. Signed by Artist.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Inscribed by the illustrator, Ralph Steadman, to the beat poet, Chris Challis, to the free front endpaper. Scarce signed. Many critics have hailed Steadman's illustrations as another main character of the novel and companion to Thompson's disjointed narrative. The New York Times noted that "Steadman's drawings were stark and crazed and captured Thompson's sensibility, his notion that below the plastic American surface lurked something chaotic and violent.
