This volume compiles selections from college journalism to provide insight into a unique aspect of American undergraduate life from its origins to the early 20th century. These selections span four decades and showcase the changing nature of college journalism, moving from fugitive serials to monthlies and ultimately mirroring the daily newspaper. The author traces the history of college journalism from its foundations in England, where The Microcosm emerged as a student publication in 1785, to its development in the United States. The book provides not only a historical perspective but also a glimpse into the role of college newspapers in shaping student opinion and fostering a sense of community within institutions of higher education. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
