A deluxe leatherbound reprint edition of the Irish author's controversial landmark novel. With illustrations by Paul Hogarth and the text of the decision of Judge John M. Woolsey which lifted the ban on U.S. sales of the novel. A re-creation of Joyce's 1932 letter to Random House publisher Bennett Cerf is also included. Issued as an entry in the publisher's Greatest Books of the Twentieth Century series. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. --- Bound in rich full green bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers. Green silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon bookmark. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A Near Fine copy with tiny ding to front cover, a hint of toning to edges of moire endpapers and slight loss of textblock top edge gilding; else bright and lacking additional damages or evidence of having been read.; Octavo (8 to 9 in. tall); (14), 763 pages.
