Integrated 33 engraved panels mounted on heavy paper; including engraved title. The carrier box of the title copper a little bit stained. low soiled otherwise indoors - mostly by fingerprints, imitation or unclean assembly. Overall quite good copy. -- Demi-veau brun moderne, le dos orne dor, les coins en veau. 33 planches gravees montees sur papier pesant, avec titre grave. Les planches avec peu de souillures, la cartonnage du titre un peu bruni. La page de titre en francais, les titres des planches en anglais. En bon etat. -- 4° ( 30,5 x 22,8 cm). Brauner neuer Halblederband mit Lederecken und goldgeprägten Rückenverzierungen. Eingebunden 33 gestochene Tafeln montiert auf starkem Papier; inclusive gestochenem Titel. Der Trägerkarton des Titelkupfers etwas stockfleckig. Ansonsten im Innenbereich gering angeschmutzt - meist durch Fingerspuren, Abklatsch oder unsaubere Montage. Insgesamt durchaus gutes Exemplar. Condition: Near Fine. (paper is watermarked 1815), 4to, 29.5x 23cm, [70]p., (inc. 2p list of views'), with 62 tinted aquatint plates including frontis entitled Ruines de Rome, descriptive text in English and French, some transfer from the plates, in contemporary quarter mahogany russia, gilt rules and title on the spine, engraved armorial contemporary bookplate, edges worn and expertly re-stained to match, surface and edge wear on the boards, upper cover title plate wanting, a very good to fine copy. (cgc) Cf. Abbey Travel, 178, which does not locate this issue. I could not see the "J.Whatman / Turkey Mill" watermark mentioned in Abbey. Watermark dating is inconclusive. I did not locate any copy with this imprint. An attractive album of 62 aqua tinted plates designed and engraved by J. Merigot(1760-1824), a French engraver who settled in London because of the French Revolution. This work was originally published in 2 parts in 1797and 1799. Book. Seller Inventory # 33211
