Item Description: c.1665, Amsterdam, 1665. A rare map of China, depicting the Far East to include Korea, southern Japan, Taiwan, Canton and Macao. This map is by Niehoff and was done during his journey to China as a member of Dutch East India Companies diplomatic mission. This is one of the few non Jesuit sources of China at the time. The map is detailed in the areas that Nieuhoff visited while journeying from Guangzhou to Beijing. The map shows great detail of rivers that were along the route. The map also contains images of native animals and also ships, with a large decorative cartouche on the lower right., Size : 440x520 (mm), 17.25x20.47 (Inches), Hand Colored Very Good, backed on acid free tissue paper for long term preservation.
