A Fair copy eith Very Good contents. The contents are remarkable clean with only the odd lightest foxing spot to engravings. The binding is very worn with a poor replacement cloth spine, rubbed and worn covers and corners with some handling marks. Previous owners names to endpapers with unusual embossed contemporary / ownership stamp of Richard Robinson of Wolverhampton to top of title page . Front hinge stretched. All thirty Engravings present and in very good near fine condition. Pictures available.

Illustrated with 2 hand-coloured maps, an engraved plan of four villas, 9 lithographic proof plates, and 2 in-text woodcuts. Contemporary brown half calf, with gilt titles to a label, gilt ruling to spine and French Curl marbled paper over boards. All edges untrimmed. Recently re-cased, with new endpapers carefully chosen to match the original paper. Moderate toning, spotting and offsetting to maps and plates, otherwise internally clean. Light wear to spine, otherwise a lovely copy. Very good. Written by the noted antiquary and author, who in his other works collaborated with Brayley and Pugin. This guide was published to promote the new development on the Calverley Estate in Tunbridge Wells, as well as providing an overview of the town. Two of the folding plates show plans and vignettes of lodges and villas in the Calverley Estate. The architect, Decimus Burton, was one of the most notable of the period, and was responsible for several buildings in Regent's Park, as well as the Wellington Arch, and the Palm and Temperate Glasshouses at Kew. This deluxe edition is significantly larger than the trade edition, and additionally features hand-coloured maps.
