Item Description: Leavitt, Trow & Co., NY, 1849. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Larger format hardcover with quarter leather, 626 pages. The book has 115 B&W illustrations (scattered throughout the text). According to one review, it contains "Engravings from many rare and curious illuminations (which) present to us the dresses, costume and manners of Froissart's heroes, and add greatly to the interest of the publication." The Table of Contents indicates that his book contains volumes I, II, III and IV, and this book complete text. Needless to say the type is quite small, and is printed in two columns throughout on letter press. The book is clean of any owner markings; there is a blue stain at the top 1/2" of the contents pages where a bit of water has caused the blue endpaper to bleed. There is the usual foxing to endpapers, although text pages have just an occasional spot. The brown covers have scuffing to leather along spine and to bottom edge of front cover. This is a solid copy in VG condition. Bookseller Inventory # 29202
