Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. In the spring of 1964, as he neared graduation from Syracuse University, journalism student Jon C. Halter resolved that his next step would be to get a master's degree in his area of specialization, magazine journalism. At the same time, he was inspired to apply to the then four-year-old Peace Corps for service beginning in the spring of 1966, when his graduate studies would be finished. In late 1965 he received word that his application had been accepted and he would begin training at the University of Arizona in March, 1966. Thus began a journey that would take him to Venezuela for two years, where he worked as an organizer for the Boy Scouts of Venezuela. The pages of his personal diary recount not only his trials, tribulations, and occasional successes with what proved to be a poorly-planned Peace Corps Scout program, but also his courtship and eventual marriage to Corina, a Venezuelan schoolgirl he met during the first months of his stay in the country.
