Dirige la rivista La Questione Romantica ed è Direttore del Centro Interuniversitario per lo Studio del Romanticismo. È autrice di volumi e saggi pubblicati in Italia e all'estero sul Romanticismo e sui rapporti culturali anglo-italiani. Ha curato edizioni critiche e traduzioni di testi in prosa e teatrali del periodo romantico. I suoi studi riguardano in particolare la poesia e il teatro del Romanticismo britannico; fra le numerose pubblicazioni si segnalano La realtà del desiderio. Saggi morali, teoria estetica e prosa politica di P. B. Shelley (1999), l'Antologia delle Poetesse Romantiche Inglesi (2003), il Manuale di letteratura e cultura inglese (2009) e Women's Romantic Theatre and Drama: History, Agency, and Performativity (2010),curati assieme a Keir Elam, nonché i più recenti contributi a The Encyclopedia of Romantic Literature (2012). Alfredo De Paz Insegna Metodologia della critica d'arte e Fenomenologia degli stili nell'Università di Bologna. Ha scritto numerosi saggi e libri teorici e storici sull'arte dell'Ottocento e del Novecento. Pur non trascurando i suoi molteplici interessi disciplinari, in una direzione che si dimostra assai sensibile alla storia delle idee, da molti anni è, fra l´altro, impegnato con passione analitica a interpretare l'arte e la cultura del romanticismo europeo in una prospettiva di proiezione contemporanea e postmoderna.
