Near Fine, almost flawless, quite clean given its age / Very Good dust jacket w/edgewear along the spine edges and a 1/4" closed tear on both top and bottom edges. Folio. Handsomely bound in black cloth over boards w/gold foil titling & illustrations on spine and front panel, with the large figure drawing on the front having the facsimile signature of the artist. Rather monumental, large format catalog for a major exhibition of national tribute to the Artist. Not to be confused with the 1949 Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes publication issued with the same title. Text in Spanish, includes a dozen essays by noted Rivera contemporaries, including ones by Frida Kahlo, Samuel Ramos, Germaine Wenziner, Jorge Juan Crespo de la Serna, Ceferinno Palencia, et al, and three by architect Juan O’Gorman on Rivera's architectural projects and contributions. Profusely illustrated w/both color and black & white Plates, and wonderfully graphic one-color endpapers. 468+ pages. Laid-in are two 4-3/4" x 7" 4-page printed pieces from El Colegio Nacional--one a 1948 schedule of a series of musical programs on Beethoven, and the other a program of Conferences during the month of May 1955, which includes a series on Rivera.
