About this Item: Judge Magazine, New York City, New York, 1921. Decorative Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Judge Magazine illustrators (illustrator). 1st Edition. "The Captain Kid Book and Judge Annual, by the writers and artists of Judge Magazine, New York. Unstated First Edition. No ISBN - there were none in those years. A big tight firm clean book in red/gilt-lettered hard boards, 11" x 9" x perhaps 250 clean pages of the humor of Judge from 1920, one of the great humor magazines from that era. "Captain Kid" was an advertising icon for Judge. The magazine would run small ads with that illustration in magazines of the day as a way of (a) giving out prints for potential readers to frame and (b) advertise Judge. Lots of humor from the post-World War I era. Topical, humorous, a bit tawdry for the day. Full-page and half-page cartoons, Political humor, photos of actresses of the day. A remarkable find. The hinges are NOT started, but the text block is a bit loosened. The endpages, in tan paper, are clean - it is possible the book was repaired some years ago - we just can't tell. A bit of wear at the spine-ends and leading corners. A chip to the very back of the World War I-era Captain Kid hat on the front board. No dogears, No lightening, No mustiness, No smoke smell. A wonderful item for the parent or grandparent building a fine intergenerational library. Splendid for the Historian, collector, author. A marvelous addition to the library of the specialist. No pencilings, No underlinings, No names. NOT Ex-library. NOT Remainder-marked. Don't let this one get by you - this is a marvelous 1920 History find. Seller Inventory # 011139
