Item Description: Göteborg, D.F. Bonniers Förlag, s.d. ( ca. 1856-1860), oblong in-folio album, 29,5 x 42 cm, title page + 50 unnumbered two-toned lithographic views of Swedish landscapes and town views, size 20 x 28 cm, last plate ( Njommelsaska ) is three- or four-toned. Bound in contemporary ( publisher's ?) rose coloured cloth with large gilt title on front cover, both covers blindtooled. Cloth partially discoloured, spine faded and slightly torn at the top. Very fine interior with no stains. With a note written in pencil on the fly leaf ; '' Donné par Mr. Curtoys de Anduaga , Ministre d'Espagne à Stockholm ''. This most probably was José Curtoys de Anduaga, Spanish diplomat and known to be the first translator of Schiller's Don Carlos in Spanish. In 1856 Bonniers published an album ; '' Sverige framstäldt i taflor ; nittosex litografier i tontryck med beskifvande text '' , text by Johan August Berg. Our album is most certainly a compilation of 50 plates (out of the 96 with the Berg commentary) published by Bonniers sometimes after 1856 at a reduced price. Bookseller Inventory # 37649
