BRAND NEW Copy w/trace wear to stapled soft cover. Debut publication commemorating opening of The Makah Museum in Neah Bay, WA. The research center houses some 300-500 year old artifacts recovered from the Ozette Archaeological Site near Lake Ozette --- a Makah village buried by mud in the 1500s. Test pits first dug 1966 by Richard Daugherty; a fortuitous 1970 storm exposed the depth of the site and an 11 year archaeological excavation begun in ernest. Collection includes whaling, sealing and fishing gear, basketry and replicas of a 60-foot cedar longhouse and oceangoing canoes. Seller Inventory # 010465
