About this Item: The Museum of Russian Art, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 2007. Pictorial Hordcover. Condition: As New. No Jacket. Not Given. "The exhibition of artworks of Geli Korzhev {U,S.S.R. National Artist, Russian Academy of Arts: Full Member} at The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis is a rare opportunity to see the whole retrospective of art of an outstanding contemporary artist; one of the most prominent masters of the second half of 20th-century Russian art.Paintings by G. Krzhev represent a logical and deserving extension of this historical line. The creator is one of the most brilliant representatives of the postwar generation of artists, standing against totalitarian officiousness. Realism became a plastic vehicle of art for them; it was understood not only as a national art tradition but also as a professional school of artistic style. Genre painting, portraits and still lifes become closer to each other in Korzhev's creative work. They become programmatic; adjusted and configured in accordance with nature and laws of realistic contruction of the human figure. The principle of narrative order is tightly connected with the psychological characteristics of thwe 'heroes' of his paintings. Korzhev's paintings is characterized by a continuous process of summarizing man's life in this world, including its tragic feelings of finiteness and loneliness. I am sure that Geli Korzhev's artwork will find a ready reception among American admirers or art. I hope that our exhibition with further promote an expanded awareness of the treasures of Russian art among the general public in the United States." {V.A. Rodionov}. This book has 244 pages and is profusely illustrated. Overall, a FINE copy of this VERY SCARCE title. Seller Inventory # 061280
