About this Item: Göttingen : Steidl, 2006. Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Aufl.. 160 S. Umschlag leicht berieben, sonst gutes Exemplar. - I was born six years after a firebrand of a soul called Christer Strömholm,31 years old at the time, rose at a colloquium on the subject of "Purposes in photography" in the Röhss Museum in Göteborg, Sweden, in 1949, to state his opinion on professional Swedish photographers in a loud and distinct voice. According to one of the younger photographers present, his six minutes address "rattled like a machine gun". A motto for photography, Strömholm claimed, should be to upset the old beaten track of darkroom fanaticism, to make Swedish photographers realize the subordinate importance of technical aspects when compared to problems within the picture frame itself.1 "General photographic knowledge among professionals is alarmingly scarce, and the atmosphere is stuffy,"Strömholm claimed. "Swedish photographers aren 't keeping up with what's going on in world photography, and don 't even know the names of their most important contemporary colleagues abroad". He pointed to the lack of formal photographic education. (Gösta Flemming). ISBN 9783865212986 Wir versenden am Tag der Bestellung von Montag bis Freitag. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1550 Mit zahlr. auch farb. Abb. Fadengehefteter Originalpappband mit Schutzumschlag. Seller Inventory # 993699

About this Item: Steidl Verlag, Göttingen, 2006. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed in pink ink on the rear of the slipcase by Tunbjörk. Hardcover. Photographically illustrated paper-covered boards with title printed on spine, contained in an acid-yellow cardstock slipcase with title boldly printed in fuscia; no dust jacket as issued. From the publisher: "I Love Borås is Lars Tunbjörk's document of an aimless journey around Sweden between 1988 and 1995 [Borås is a province and city in the country's southwestern region], depicting supermarkets, parties, small town streets, amusement parks, gas stations, TV-shows, landscapes, food. During that time Tunbjörk was working on his series Landet utom sig / Country Beside Itself, but these images were not used in that series because they didn't fit, they were too ugly, too beautiful or too silly. Spine ends and front top corner are a trifle worn, rear wrapper has two light stains. A fine copy of Tunbjörk's debut. With an introduction in Swedish and English by Per Lindström, who says that "Tunbjörk devotes his attention to the heart of society, depicting the everyday, but in photographs that are neither dull, nor indifferent, and capturing with love and humility the human and the universal aspects of the world around us. His style is both simple and direct; his work often tinged with a surrealistic undertone that blends, just as frequently, with a touch of humour.". Seller Inventory # 21483

That is why I dread those houses, that sits [sic] on the outskirts of any mediumsized [sic] town, and were constructed in a period of weeks early in the decade." (Göran Greider). About this Item: Steidl, Gottingen, GERMANY, 2002. Linen Boards with Pastedown. Condition: Fine. First Edition. np (106pp), 49 color illustrations. Text in English. Designed by Greger Ulf Nilson. With a bibliography and exhibition history. "After his earlier series on leisure time and the world of office labor, Lars Tunbjork returned to his childhood neighborhood to photograph his mother's house. The experience intrigued him, and he continued shooting in similar areas around Sweden. Saturated with other people's personal memories, his photographs convey the peculiar atmosphere of silence familiar in middle-class housing districts". Featuring elegantly detached images of Swedish housing projects, yards and interiors devoid of their occupants, this lovely hardbound catalogue published in conjunction with Goteborg's Hasselblad Center is a worthy successor to the photographer's celebrated "Landet Utom Sig / A Country Beside Itself". A most handsome copy. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its weight and value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase. Hardcover. Fine pink linen cloth, with title stamped in black on front cover and spine, with plate tipped in debossed front cover, no dust jacket as issued. Photographs by Lars Tunbjörk. Text (in English) by Göran Odbratt. Edited by Greger Ulf Nilson. Includes a short bibliography and an exhibition history. Designed by Greger Ulf Nilson. 106 pp., with 49 four-color plates, beautifully printed on heavy fine art paper by Steidl, Göttingen, Germany. 11-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches.Published on the occasion of the 2002 exhibition Lars Tunbjörk Home/Office at the Hasselblad Center, Sweden. Near Fine (some light soiling to the cloth and light surface marks on the cover plate; binding is slightly loose, else a Fine copy.). From the publisher: "An emptiness permeates our cities, smaller towns, and moves along the roads. It did not use to be there. When it began to emerge, it went undetected for some time, suppressed beneath a kind of dizzy tipsiness that spread across the country and was everywhere, and which perhaps transformed the very fundamentals of that country. The experience intrigued him, and he continued shooting in similar areas around Sweden. Saturated with other people's personal memories, his photographs convey the peculiar atmosphere of silence familiar in middle-class housing districts, not only in Sweden but in other countries as well. If on the surface his images purport to investigate the private domestic realm in terms of architecture, home decorating styles, and garden culture, as seen in Sweden during the latest two decades, under these multiple, quiet surfaces they reveal apocalyptically more. Home is the final book in a trilogy, following Country beside Itself and Office." Signed by Author. Seller Inventory # 107740
