Cette édition de Loukios ou L'âne de Lucien de Samosate (circa 120-180) de la nouvelle traduction d'Emile Chambry est illustrée de bois originaux d'Henri Laurens (1885-1954), sculpteur, peintre et dessinateur cubiste français. On compte plus de soixante compositions originales, dont le frontispice et une vingtaine de figures en pleine page, gravées sur bois et en partie rehaussées d'or. La typographie, due à Pierre Boucher, accompagnée en bout de ligne de décor par H. Laurens et tirée en or, s'accorde de façon heureuse à l'illustration.
