No internal faults. This Dover edition was first published in 1965 but this is clearly a reprint as it has an ISBN bottom back jacket. The original French text was pub. in 1789. 13.5 x 21.5.

Condition: Very Good. 4th edition thus. 592pp. Octavo in full contemporary mottled brown calf with gilt-stamped red morocco spine label and decorative ruling to spine. 13 folding copper engravings at rear. Rubbing and light wear to leather, corners exposed, spine dry with fine creases, rear joint cracked at top to a depth of 2.5"; hinges cracked (but holding), 20th century bookplate on flyleaf, some small scattered dampstains to front matter, light foxing throughout. Off-setting and occasional light soiling to plates, short tears to three of the plates (the deepest being 1.5"). An attractive and surprisingly well-preserved copy of this relatively early American edition of Lavoisier's seminal work.
