New/none, new book still in the original shipping cardboard box, color illustrated slick paper over boards, 256pp. Interior clean and bright, no marks except authors signature on the title page. Binding crisp, never read. No wear to exterior, binding is clean and bright. I bought a case of them from Larry at the Denver Gun show when they were brand new. I though I had sold all of them but found this in a box of books here at the shop. Signed by Author(s).
1st. 256 pages, 4o., over 190 illus in colour and b/w from photographs, line drawings, early adverts etc., signed on the title page by Lawrence Shelton. A fine copy in the publishers pictorial binding. The book follows the life of a successful English gunmaker and businessman John Clabrough who was born in Yorkshire, England. He learned the gunsmith trade from his father, travelled to the United States in 1857, worked as a gunsmith and opened his own shop in San Francisco. In 1873 he returned to England to produce guns for the American market. The book contains some excellent close-up photographs of the guns.
