" First edition of Kol Sakal and Sha'agat Aryeh, two classic treatises by notable Jewish Italian scholar, probably the most famous critic of the mystical Jewish tradition. Leone di Modena (1571-1648) was a great Jewish Italian scholar, rabbi and poet, famous for his book "Historia de' riti Ebraici", published in 1637, which was the first account of Jewish customs and rituals written by a Jew and addressed to non-Jewish readers since the times of Josephus and Philo of Alexandria. EXTREMELY RARE FIRST EDITION of "Kol Sakal" and "Sha'agat Aryeh" by Leone di Modena (1571-1648) - the great Jewish Italian scholar, rabbi and poet, famous for his book "Historia de' riti Ebraici", published in 1637, which was the first account of Jewish customs and rituals written by a Jew and addressed to non-Jewish readers since the times of Josephus and Philo of Alexandria, and was widely disseminated in the Christian world and translated into many languages. 205x135mm. 268 pages [+1]. Hardcover. Cover and spine worn. Front cover slightly curved. Cover corners peeling, edges worn. Spine upper edge partly missing and peeling. Sticker on spine. Several small wormholes on cover and spine penetrating into inner cover and most page edges - wormholes not touching the text, only the extreme edges of pages. Ex-library copy with stamp and small pen marks on both whitepages and title-page. Library stamp on page 19 and 67. Some pages dog-eared. Pages yellowing and slightly age-stained. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare book comprising two classic treatises by notable Jewish Italian scholar, probably the most famous critic of the mystical Jewish tradition, has suffered some damage, but is still in good reading condition.
