The sixteenth volume of the report of the Leopoldine Society, established at Vienna in 1829 per order of Leo XII to aid Catholic missions in North America. Drawing upon funds raised in Europe, the beneficiaries of the society were principally dioceses in the United States, including Cincinnati, St. Louis, Bardstown, Charleston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Mobile, Dubuque, Natchez, Chicago, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Marquette, Galveston, Little Rock, and numerous others.
