About this Item: Self-Published, Bangor, MI, 1961. Correspondence. Condition: VG+. First Edition. A unique item. Offered is a lengthy original letter dated November 23, 1961, hand-typed and hand-signed in blue ink pen by magician "Little" Johnny Jones (1899-1997) out of Bangor, Michigan. A single-paged letter measuring 8-3/8" by 11" with printed letterhead showing narrow black boxed borders to upper area (with "LITTLE JOHNNY JONES" in bold, "FIRST CHOICE OF THE CHOOSEY - PORTLAND TO PORTLAND - The Fashionable Magician - Featuring one hour programs - GEARED TO ADULT AUDIENCE APPRECIATION" in small letters, along with a list of his lectures and demonstrations, and chatty comments about his magic acts, "BOOK NOW! WRITE OR WIRE LITTLE JOHNNY JONES, 931 Cuyler Avenue, Chicago 13, Ill. [the address crossed out by magician considering his new address], "Don't Miss Our Show - Phone GRAceland 5282 [crossed out by magician] - Your preference for the best will be gratified." Addressed to W. Douglas Scott, 68 Columbia Avenue, Montreal 6, Quebec, Canada, the letter reads in very short part: "Dear Douglas: Today is Thanksgiving, and among other things, I am thankful for your letter expressing your appreciation of the Nixon sucker dove vanish - You mentioned that you are building your show with small illusions, so I shall take the liberty of mentioning some that I have which may appeal to you, and if so, I would like for you to have them - First I would like to mention again that I have Doc Nixon's live stock production; for either rabbit or dove, guinea pig or kitten - I used to use it in conjunction with the dove vanish, calling it BROADCASTING DOVES - Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in any of these things. Abbott's Chinese Chopper is the best thing he ever made and mine is a good one. It's great comedy and also dresses up the stage." The letter ends "Sincerely, Johnny Jones" (handwritten in blue pen). Condition: lacks original mailing envelope; previously folded twice for mailing purposes; lightly age-yellowed; a few tiny staple holes to upper left corner. Signed by Author(s).
