First Edition
Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine binding. Quarto. 236, [4] pp., illus. Limited edition, number 322 of 660 copies from the full edition of 700. In original cloth with much of the original slipcase present. Binding is quite bright but with a touch of sunning to the spine; offsetting to the front and rear free endpaper, otherwise clean. Slipcase is missing one rail and another is laid in, so it is functionally a chemise more than a slipcase. Designed by Monroe Wheeler and printed by Ducros & Colas, this limited edition of Byron's melancholy narrative marks the first book-form appearance of artist Francis Cyril Rose who supplied 28 delicately tinted wash drawings printed in collotpye by Daniel Jacomet.
