Very Good in pebbled cloth hardcover, lettered in gilt - clean, bright, binding sound. A book comprised of poems, with each poem dated from 1892 to 1913; thus many early poems - one on p. 79 recalls an Icelandic Celebration Day (Islendingadaginn) in River Park, Winnipeg (River Park was a frequent setting for Icelandic gatherings in Winnipeg, including the annual Icelandic Celebrations before they were moved to Gimli); another is entitled "Vancouver", on p. 95 - thus Canadian Content. Bjarni Sigurðsson Lyngholt was born at Hjálmholt in Rangárvallasýsla, S-Iceland, son of Sigurður Björnsson and Rannveig Bjarnadóttir, married in Iceland and immigrated to Canada in 1903, first to Winnipeg, very active in the IOGT (Hekla Good Templars) in Winnipeg, Vancouver 1907-1929, then Blaine, Washington, shoemaker and blacksmith by trade, well educated, involved in drama, music, and poetry, and often entertained at gatherings with poetry recitals, speeches, or plays. He was a Unitarian, and became involved in spiritualism in later years. At time of cataloguing, one listing only on Amicus; not in Peel (3rd Ed.). Seller Inventory # 29839
