About this Item: Condition: New. Publisher/Verlag: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing | Marine ecology is the branch of ecology dealing with the interdependence of all organisms living in the ocean, in shallow coastal waters, and on the seashore. The marine environment for all organisms consists of non-living, abiotic factors and living, biotic factors.Mangrove forests provide diverse goods and services and many communities are dependent on these formations for survival. In spite of this, only a small portion of global mangrove resources is currently under any active management. However, considerable information and knowledge on the sustainable management of this forest type is available. Using simple, easy-to-follow silvicultural regimes, forests such as the Sundarbans and Matang have been managed for several decades for sustainable production. If we practice the sustainable integrated approach to greening our coast, surely our offspring s will be saved from disasters like Tsunami, cyclone and sea level rise. At the same time we will ensure the sustainable wealth of fishery resources and livelihood security of fishing communities. | Format: Paperback | Language/Sprache: english | 80 pp. Seller Inventory # K9783659155246

About this Item: Condition: New. Publisher/Verlag: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing | Status of Great Indian Bustards | Bustards are magnificent, tall, long-necked and long-legged birds belonging to the avian family Otididae. There are about 26 species of bustards in the world, and the Great Indian Bustard (GIB; Ardeotis nigriceps) is the most endangered among these. The Indian Board of Wildlife, in late 1960s had considered this bird as a possible choice of the National Bird along with the Peacock. The GIB, the state bird of Rajasthan, is a shy bird living in arid and semi-arid (dry) grasslands and scrubs containing scattered bushes and some cultivation. The GIB, once abundant in the grasslands across the Indian subcontinent, is reportedly extinct from 90% of its former range (Birds life International 2008). About this Item: Condition: New. Publisher/Verlag: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing | Potentials for Reintroduction in India | Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) may be the world's fastest land mammal 64 mph, but that hasn't helped them escape their worst enemy: humans. The big cats have been hunted to extinction in 15 countries, and their remaining African and Asian populations currently face genetic weaknesses, such as low sperm counts and deformed tails, because of inbreeding. The animal, charismatic in its own right, therefore, also has a very special significance for the national conservation ethic and ethos. Prior to the 20th century, cheetahs were widely distributed throughout Africa and Asia. Today, the Asian cheetah is nearly extinct, due to a decline of available habitat and prey. The species was declared extinct in India in 1952. The reintroduction of cheetah in India , important in itself, would have equally important conservation ramifications. In saving it one would have to save not only its prey-base comprising certain threatened species, but also other endangered species of the grasslands, some of which are on the brink of extinction. | Format: Paperback | Language/Sprache: english | 96 pp. Seller Inventory # K9783659493348

About this Item: Condition: New. Publisher/Verlag: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing | Plantation forestry plays a vital role in meeting the raw material demand of wood based industries. Under such plantations a paradigm shift is essential from general sivicultural packages to site specific, management packages to harvest higher utilizable biomass at the shortest rotation period. To elucidate information on the above line a field experiment was conducted with Casuarina species viz., C. equisetifolia and C. junghuhniana from seed and clonal sources raised under two spacings and five nutrient levels with a common irrigation schedule. The study was taken up at Agricultural Research Station, Bhavanisagar during 2010-2012. The current study has thus clearly brought out that wider spacing of 1.5 m x 1.5 m with the seed source of C.equisetifolia under 25 % more of fertilizer applications over the soil test recommendation value of 93.75: 225: 100 of NPK kg ha-1 was the ideal combination for higher biomass production as well as for getting maximum profit for site specific conditions at Bhavanisagar tract in Tamil Nadu, India under need based irrigated condition. | Format: Paperback | Language/Sprache: english | 300 pp. Seller Inventory # K9783659442667

About this Item: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. Bustards are magnificent, tall, long-necked and long-legged birds belonging to the avian family Otididae. The GIB, once abundant in the grasslands across the Indian subcontinent, is reportedly extinct from 90 of its former range (Birds life International 2008). Now, the GIB is confined to some parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh in India, and Sind in Pakistan, in scattered and isolated populations. About this Item: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, United States, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) may be the world s fastest land mammal 64 mph, but that hasn t helped them escape their worst enemy: humans. The reintroduction of cheetah in India, important in itself, would have equally important conservation ramifications. In saving it one would have to save not only its prey-base comprising certain threatened species, but also other endangered species of the grasslands, some of which are on the brink of extinction. About this Item: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, United States, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book. Plantation forestry plays a vital role in meeting the raw material demand of wood based industries. The current study has thus clearly brought out that wider spacing of 1.5 m x 1.5 m with the seed source of C.equisetifolia under 25 more of fertilizer applications over the soil test recommendation value of 93.75: 225: 100 of NPK kg ha-1 was the ideal combination for higher biomass production as well as for getting maximum profit for site specific conditions at Bhavanisagar tract in Tamil Nadu, India under need based irrigated condition.
