Flat signed by the author to title page (striking through his own name), and again to half title 'To Rowan Rhys, in apprecation of great good neighbourliness'. Includes B&W photographic plates, all present. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Gutters somewhat cracked with some exposed netting; binding somewhat shaky. Small pencil inscription to front endpaper. A few dog-eared corners. Text block edges highly foxed and tanned. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. A few liquid droplet marks; small water stain to spine and rear board. Boards are slightly bowed. Book has a slight forward lean. Spine is a little sunned. Gilt is dulled and worn.

In the letter Coleman writes ,'The priest at Kiltimagh was once asked if he believed in ghosts and fairies, and he replied that they were as plentiful as the grass in the fields.' Original orange cloth, gilt lettering to the spine, a few marks to the jacket, foxing to the text block, slight offsetting to endpapers, text clean. Overall, a very good copy.
