Previous ownership plate on front paste down. xxxix, 272 pages clean and tight. William Dunbar is to Scotsmen what Geoffrey Chaucer is to Englishmen. In his poetry the life of Renaissance Scotland achieves its richest and most enduring memorial. His reputation in England stands higher than it has ever done. 'Mr. Mackenzie and the Porpoise Press are to be congratulated on giving us this edition of Dunbar which has long been overdue. The notes and vocabulary are wisely segregated from the text, and the introduction furnishes us with all the facts about the poet which we are likely to want.'-W. H. Auden in the Criterion. Size: 8vo.
