About this Item: J S Virtue & Co. Limited, London. Original Wraps. Condition: Good. J D Woodward et al. (illustrator). This unbound copy of the Holy Bible contains the Old and New Testaments and does not include the Apocrypha. It is missing three parts out of the total number of 31. It is nevertheless of much value for study purposes and also for making good another copy of this publication. The very many illustrations are of particular note and provide a great deal of interest. Because of the missing three sections the illustrations are a little short of the full complement of 59 full page + 403 in text. No date but c. 1880. Part 3 to 31 + Div. 11 to 15. Parts 1 & 2 and Part 27 are missing. These sections were 'Sold to subscribers only'. Div 11 to 15 are thicker sections and appear to have been bought at a later stage. They show 'Price 6s' whereas the Old Testament sections show 'Price 2s'. ILLUSTRATIONS: A wealth of engravings on steel and wood, full page and in text, by J D Woodward et al. There is interesting explanatory background detail beneath the pictures. CONDITION: Some pages are uncut at the top edge. A little wear to the edges of pages. No inscriptions. Unmarked clear pages with a little discolouration in places. The pages are bound with staples which have rusted . PAGES: Parts 3 to 26 are on pages 33 to 832. Parts 28 to 31 are on pages 865 to 992. Div. 11 runs on from the end of Part 31 and Div 11 to 15 are on pages 961 to 994 (end of Old Testament) and then at the beginning of the New Testament the pages run from 1 to 62. Div. 12 to 15 run from page 63 to 353 (end of Revelations). Futher pages follow with title pages for the three volumes which would be created when bound and there are lists of the engravings as well as a 6 page Dictionary Appendix and an article titled 'General Introduction to the Pentatuech'. There are cross references in a central margin on each page and an overview of the text at the head of each chapter. The Family Register pages are blank. WEIGHT: c. 9 kg packaged. POSTAGE: No extra charge for despatch within the UK. Reasonable international rates. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Seller Inventory # 006705
