Bound in black half leather with gilt titles to spine (Malham's Bible) this 1810 very large hardcover Bible is VG for date. Size is 16" x 10". Pages not numbered: approx. 500pp plus. Very large collection of full-page engravings. For example: David with the Head of Goliath, Saul and the Witch of Endor, Solomons Temple. Engravers include the following: Eastgate, Wilson, Pollard and Edwards.Includes old and new testaments, complete commentary, notes, summary of doctrine and history, with introduction prefixed to each book. Several engravings have small closed tears, two small chip neatly repaired to frontis. Really large print for the date:would be described as large print today.Vast majority of pages are free of foxing but 5 pages of First Chapter of Samuel are badly foxed. Odd pages have dirty margins; again vast majority are VG. Clean marbled endpapers, five raised bands to spine; corners and spine edges rubbed and worn, minor abrasions to surface of boards, but gatherings tight and binding sound. Weight is 5Kg. Post to USA is £27; post to Australia is £40. This is airmail via UPS. ( Post in UK £6.00) Bible is VG for date with minor faults as described. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Marbled end papers; with 2 crimson and gilt leather owners labels to paste down, one of J. and M. Trask 1827, and the other R. and A. Allan 1987. Complete with Engraved Frontispiece, engraved title, portrait, 1 full-page plate and 60 illustrations on 30 leaves. Vol.1 : xlvi, 536pp. With 11 hand-coloured engraved fold-out maps dated Sept. 1795. Vol.2: 568pp. With 6 hand-coloured engraved fold-out maps dated Sept. 1795. A total of 17 lovely hand-coloured engraved maps, as called for. Each volume: 21.5 x 14cm. A Very Good set. Covers are worn and rubbed, particularly to spines. Bindings sound, with slight splits to external joints of Vol.2, and two pages partly loose in vol.1. Top page edges darkened. No ownership inscriptions. The maps are in very good condition, with some browning, and offsetting to adjacent leaves. Frontispiece map of Vol.1 has tear along centre fold for approx 7cm without loss otherwise the maps are in lovely condition. Variable brown toning to main pages of both volumes, some foxing & browning in Vol.1 which is usually on pages facing or backing the folded maps.In spite of these faults I stiil believe these to be in very good condition.
