Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Not a book, but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm "Long Play" (mono) "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" vinyl jazz record album, RCA Victor LPM 1146, silver-print black label with white dog on top, very-good-plus vinyl but with considerable wear and scratches around the spindle hole; "very good" jacket is split most of the way back to top edge. The idea here was to have 12 different groups play 12 different arrangements of "Lullaby of Birdland" (all recorded 1954-1955), the most notable of these being Shorty Rogers featuring Andre Previn; Quincy Jones; Charlie Barnet, and Tony Scott. The version of Milt Barnhart and Orchestra was arranged by trumpet player Pete Candoli, who also plays, as does a euphonium player listed here as "Maynard Feruson" (no "g.") Interestingly enough, "Maynard Feruson" (again, no "g") also appears playing trumpet on the version arranged by Billy May for Charlie Barnet and Orchestra. Shorty Rogers' version features Andre Previn on piano, Bud Shank flute, Jimmy Guiffre baritone sax, Joe Mondragon bass, and Shelly Manne on drums. A number of players show up on several of these cuts, including Al Cohn (five times), Jimmy Nottingham (four times), Jack Zoot (three times), Nat Pierce, Milt Hinton, and Billy Byers. Reduced from $12.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. "An Introduction to the World's Greatest" ain't books but rather a boxed set of five, 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl jazz LP records, World's Greatest Music Series WGM(S)-2A, "from the catalogue of Roulette Records Birdland Series," the vinyl very-good-plus (no real problems, but these records have been played), four of the five discs marked "Stereo," the box intact and "very good" with some edge rub and what's probably a sticker pull to bottom of rear panel. On the bright side, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis offer "Crazeology" and "Bird Feathers"; Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker bring us "School Days" and "Swing Low Sweet Cadillac"; Art Tatum offers "Dark Eyes"; the Stan Getz Quartet brings us "Hershey Bar"; we find Sonny Stitt with "Spinning" and "Hitsburg." Maynard Ferguson, Sarah Vaughan ("Stormy Weather") and Joe Williams each get a full disc to themselves, set of five now reduced from $12. For Maynard Ferguson fans we'll throw in OUR SECOND BOXED SET of two Roulette LPs, "The Maynard Ferguson Years," K-101, appear to be mono, very-good-plus vinyl in a "good" original 1965 box, including "Hip Twist," "Stella By Starlight," "Mambo La Mans" (sic), "The Party's Over," etc. -- that second boxed set being about a $4 value, the pair of boxed sets now reduced from $14.

A beautiful, pristine copy in perfect condition. Brand New. Still SEALED in the publisher's clear plastic shrinkwrap. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NOT a remainder. NO owner's name or bookplate. The standard bibliography. This is a full dress, fully descriptive bibliography in the Soho and Pittsburgh style. From the introduction by Allen Ginsberg: "Burroughs's work has been logical patchwork, a series of psychophysical literate experiments on himself and the Word planet, advances and retreats, overnight flights, tunnelings, stopovers, exiles and homecomings to different areas of emotion and physical space, bewildering in variety but coherent as our solar system. I hope this book serves as a guide map for myself and others to locate his landmarks and side trips, interzones and galaxies -- where we'll find him lurking waiting for us with benevolent indifferent attentiveness, 'last of the Faustian men,' as Kerouac mythologized him in an earlier decade this century.". First Edition. Hardcover. New/in publisher's shrinkwrap. Illus. by Taylor, Hydon (photography by). 8vo. xxvi, 242pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.
