"Deluxe Autographed Edition" BUT LACKING THE AUTHOR'S AUTOGRAPHED LEAF. i-viii, 9-398 pages. Hardcover; H 20.75cm x L 14cm. Handsome black morocco with vibrant gilt stamped lettering, faint white discoloration to boards, some abrasion at spine head with shallow loss, light scuffing along fore-edge of front board. Gilt top edge; foxing along fore-edge with light toning at edges of endpapers; interior leaves and b/w plates are otherwise bright and clean. A reprint of the 1910 first edition but with the addition of fifteen b/w photos and six drawings by Frederick R. Gruger. Laid-in at the book's front endpapers is an autographed letter signed (ALS) from a young Neely Grant, Jr. (aka Neely Grant II) to his Memphis, TN parents on Grant's personalized Lawrenceville School stationery. The letter is signed "Son" rather than his given name and is dated for January 19 without a year but it remains enclosed in its toned original envelope which is postmarked for January 20, 1941. Neely Grant was a Robinsonville, Mississippi poet and author as well as a frequent contributor to the Delta Review magazine. A very good copy.
