Il recommande M. Mouthon à un confère du journal L'Eclair. On joint une lettre du frère, Félix Laurent (1846-1901), ingénieur, signalant que Charles, souffrant, ne peut répondre à son correspondant. Laurent a laissé passé un texte répondant à L'Eclair et attaquant Georges Montorgeuil sans le savoir et cela lui cause chagrin et remords. [494].

Laurent possède aussi « beaucoup d'autographes, de notes, d'articles mais point de lettres qu'on lui ait adressées ». [494].
