Based on George Bernard Shaw's 1901 play, about an aging Julius Caesar's attempts to resolve a long-held conflict between princess Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy. One of the most expensive productions of its time, although the production suffered from both wartime delays and the poor mental health of lead actress Vivien Leigh.
