This work is written shortly before the beginning of the french Revolution. (Six years before the Estates General was convened). The poem and history comes to an end with the death of Louis XV and the final lines are dated 1774. The work is pro monarchy in tone, with the death of Louis XV being mentioned "Let us not recall the memory of this day which still covers all of France in mourning." The regret of his death would be eternal if his subjects "Did not find consolation in the benevolence and virtues of his august successor, and of the princes whom heaven has destined to make the happiness of the Nation." The French had other ideas for Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette ! 414 pages. 18.5cm x 12cm. This is a rare item. We can find no reference to it online.
