Condition: NUOVO. Luigi Cazzavillan nacque ad Arzignano (VI) nel 1852. Fu garibaldino, giornalista, commerciante, imprenditore, benefattore. Volontario, sotto il comando di Garibaldi, nella guerra franco tedesca del 1870-1871, partecipò poi alla guerra serbo-turca del 1876, dopo la quale passò in Romania. Qui, dopo essere stato corrispondente di guerra per vari giornali italiani, decise di stabilirsi, diventando imprenditore nel campo della stampa e direttore di giornali. Nel 1844 fondò il quotidiano Universul, uno dei più importanti del vecchio Regno romeno, introducendo nel Paese l'utilizzo della rotativa oltre a quello della pubblicità commerciale. Verso la fine del secolo Cazzavilan si imponeva come una delle maggiori personalità della colonia italiana a Bucarest, della quale divenne presidente. Con le sue sostanze promosse o contribuì a numerose iniziative di beneficenza, sia in Romania che nel natio Veneto. Morì a Vienna, dove si era recato per cure mediche, ancora giovane nel 1903.
