Frontispiece wood-engraving by Sarah van Niekerk. The books are bound in quarter black cloth over red decorated paper covered boards. Gilt titles and decoration to spines. Decorated red slipcase with gothic titles. The slipcase is a little dusty on top but is otherwise in excellent condition. The books are in near fine condition with no inscriptions. PLEASE NOTE: very heavy set so extra will be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.

Hardback. Sarah Van Niekerk (illustrator). Hardback set of six volumes in slipcase. With illustrations by Sarah Van Niekerk. Each volume bound in quarter cloth with paper to the sides printed with a specially commissioned design by David Eccles. Black cloth with gilt titles to spines. Red slip case with decorative Gothic titles in black. Coleridge said of Radcliffe's most famous work: ".curiosity is kept upon the stretch from page to page, and from volume to volume, and the secret, which the reader thinks himself every instant on the point of penetrating, flies like a phantom before him, and eludes his eagerness till the very last moment of protracted expectation" All six books are very clean bright and neat. The slipcase has some uneven faded. The top face of the slipcase is faded and one side face is faded in a bar pattern. the slipcase is clean and sound thought the papers to the sides are lifting very slightly at the overlaps. Near fine, bright set in good+ slipcase.
