Front free endpaper cut out. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends.

Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown and endpaper. Moderate foxing to endpapers. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy scratching and marking to boards. Heavy bumping to rear upper corner. Heavy tanning to spine, which has mild crushing and wear to ends. Small droplets covering spine.

Stated to be Fourth edition, 1878 though other copies refer to first edition 1882. No dust jacket. Covers the period from origins of the Reformation to Henry VIII and William Tyndale. (Interestingly, title is Reformation OF the Church etc, not Reformation AND the Church etc). Slightest of weakness inside front cover at join with spine. Back board with slight fading at top. Spine faded and very minor damage at top. Foxing but otherwise good. 567 pages. Quoted postage for UK 2nd class. Overseas at least £14.30.

Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled. Book has strong forward lean. Boards are slightly bowed.

Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout, heavier at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Cracking to gutters, with exposed netting causing the binding to be shaky. Both boards feel loose. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Cloth has moderate damp and dust stains. Mild crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine.

Laid Into The Book Is A Tiny Booklet Titled " Admit The Bearer A Sinner' By Rev James Johnston Published By The Toronto Willard Tract Depository Which Is Not Dated But Could Be Late 1800S.

A small portion is missing from foot of spine. Hinges are worn, but covers remain firmly attached. Leather is lightly scratched and rubbed, but overall free of any significant flaws. Previous owner's inscription on front attached endpaper. Title page dated 1834. 225 pages, free of marks or tears, and in good reading condition. Binding is strong. Spine sunned, part of title and author's name missing in top insert and the corner of the lower insert which lists Exodus and Leviticus is also gone. Book is square with a secure binding. Fairly large dampstain on back cover. Interior is fresh . ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Bible commentary for families. I assume there are more volumes in this series but the book does not indicate.

In fairly good brown cloth boards, blind stamped pattern and ruled edges to front, gilt titles to spine. Approximately half an inch from front tail edge is loose from the page block; there are a few marks to front and rear; spine ends and corners bumped. Bright brown end papers; a little marked; the front end papers are split down centre but muslin from spine not visible. Age-toned cut edges; the fore edge is also deckled. The text block is tight, slightly warped, unmarked except for the publisher's list to rear which is tanned. No dedications etc. Good condition. Without jacket.
