Issued in hardback in a limited edition of five hundred copies, the first paperback edition was issued on the same day in a limitation of two thousand copies. With the limitation bookmark tipped in. Without dust wrapper as issued. Following the story of fourteen year old Will Burrows as he searches for his father in the fictional borough of London Highfield.A special copy signed by both author and the artist Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams, with an original doodle by the illustrator of two blind rats, described 'Two blind rats! (see how they write.)'Illustrated with eight full page plates in colour and other illustrations in black and white in text throughout. Collated, complete. Referred to as the Remarque Series, these books are first edition hardbacks, signed by both authors and individually numbered out of 80 (these hardbacks are drawn from the 500 print run and not in addition to it). Each copy has a one-off drawing by Brian Williams and an inscription by Roderick Gordon." This copy is 78 of 80 and is signed by both authors and dated on the day of publication. The inscription on the title page reads " I dig .therefore I am!" The illustration on the facing page show a character with a bucket on his head with cut-out eye holes behind a brick wall with the inscription " OK, we'll do it your way," and is initialed by Williams.
