Hierzu bietet der Autor eine Vielzahl an weitergehenden Literturangaben an. Gewiss handelt es sich bei diesem Buch weder um einen Reiseführer noch um eine tiefgreifende wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung der Thematik, jedoch vermag Breuer "Irland" durch seine prägnante Darstellungsweise und sprachliche Eloquenz zu einer Art "Zwischending" zwischen Reiseführer und wissenschaftlicher Abhandlung reifen zu lassen. Ich möchte "Irland" daher als eine Art "Reiseführer mit dem gewissen Etwas" bezeichnen. Dieser Überblick über die irische Geschichte, Literatur und Kultur vermittelt in angemessener Länge und Übersichtlichkeit einen umfassenden Einstieg in die irische Landeskunde. Es ist sehr interessant und leicht zu lesen und mit unterstützenden Illustrationen ansprechend gestaltet. Wer sich tiefer mit diesem wunderbaren Land auseinandersetzen möchte, findet im umfangreichen Literaturverzeichnis genügend Anregungen. Autor: Dr. Rolf-E.
