First published in 1864, this is a one volume edition in a handsome full leather school prize binding. 18.5 x 24.5 cm, printed in double columns, lxi, [2], 1002 [2] pages, portrait frontispiece. Some creasing and chipping to title pages and frontispiece, foxing to a few pages first and last but otherwise very sound and clean internally. Binding with crest of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Grammar school on front board, school prize label on pastedown, not much wear but joints neatly reinforced with paper.

Filled with engravings by Selous. Original publisher's cloth bindings rubbed and worn with hinges showing webbing. Title pages loose to Vol 1. Nevetheless, a good Victorian set, filled with engravings. It has some lovely images throughout by H C Selous, with the editorial touch of the great Victorian writers Charles and Mary Lamb, as well as William Cowden Clark. A nice set, priced to sell! Book.

Keyser, on his leaving Eton in 1864, to first blank. Offsetting from frontispiece, and moderate spotting to first and final few leaves, otherwise internally crisp and clean. Moderate general wear to binding; spine sunned. Very good.

No date of publication, though circa 1860s (Cassell Petter & Galpin existed in this configuration from 1858 to 1878). Complete set in three volumes, including comedies, histories, and tragedies. Burgundy dyed leather over spines and corners, with buckram burgundy cloth over boards. Beveled edges. Gilt stamped lettering on spine and top cover. Raised spine bands create six compartments on each spine. Leather is rubbed and scuffed, with a little loss of some lettering on spine. Light wear at corners and spine ends. There is a little light scattered foxing, mostly seen on first and last few leaves, and more so on tissue guards than the actual leaves.
