Volume 1 is splitting at inside fron hnge but holding at the top, small pinhole at top of spine cloth. Rear hinge cracking and weak, light pencil notations on rear end paper. Similar inside front hinge issue with Volume 2. Volume 3 inner hinge paper at front cracked and cracking at top and middle. Following volumes published in 1906: Vol. 4 no issues. Volume 5 inner front hinge weak. Volume 6 inner front hinge weak. Volume 7 inner front hinge weak, rear inner hinge cracking at top. Volume 8 one sheet contents is loose with no damage, 1' cracking to outer front hinge cloth neatr center, few instances of light pencil marginalia. Volume 9 has somewhat weak inner front hinge. Volume 10 somewhat weak inner front hinge with small amount of cracking to paper, similar for rear inner hinge. All volumes have a small to modrate amount of soiling or sunning to the cloth covers, but overall a very nice shelf appearance. A true first edition of each volume 10 having been typeset and printed in February 1907 and volumes 4-9 being printed in 1906.

Each volume about 440 pp. This is a fine set that includes a 195-page invaluable introduction to Franklin's works (Manuscripts, Printed Editions, Works, Philosophical Works, Political and Economical Works, Satires and Bagatelles, Correspondence) by Albert Henry Smyth. The writing also include John Bigelow's corrected version of Franklin's autobiography and Franklin's outline for the autobiography. Fine.
