Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Oversized hardcover with DJ. Black cloth over boards with gold lettering on the front and spine. Black matte DJ with gold lettering as well. A revised facsimile edition of Letarouilly's Edifices de Rome Moderne - first facsimile was published in 1982, this revised edition is copyright 1984. Unpaginated but large. In good condition. The binding is strong and square. The covers are clean, though a bit rubbed along the edges. Bottom edge has a small amount of what looks like very slight water damage and toning. Corners are very lightly bumped, as are the crown and foot of the spine. Pages inside are clean and unmarked. DJ rubbed wand toned in a straight line across the front. This new edition improved the quality of the reproductions, as much of the fine linework of Letarouily's etchings was lost in the original reproductions. These are in black and white and fine detail throughout. This is an oversized (and overweight) book. Extra shipping may be required for international or priority shipping.

Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. Hardcover volume, measuring approximately 9.5" x 12.5", is, together with dust jacket, new, still in shrinkwrap. 364 pages. First edition of this high-quality reprint, on 80-lb acid-free paper, of the original 3-volume work published between 1840 and 1866. "Paul Letarouilly's masterpiece, "Edifices de Rome Moderne," has been hailed as the most beautiful book on Renaissance architecture ever published. Letarouilly (17951855) devoted thirty-five years to drawing the plans, sections, elevations, perspectives, and large-scale details of gardens, convents, palaces, and churches of Renaissance Rome. His keen observational ability and immaculate drawing skills make this work an indispensable sourcebook. In many cases his etchings remain the only measured plans or elevations available; he also recorded buildings destroyed by later demolitions.".

No text essays, only the index to the plates, in English.
