Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Introduction by translator. Brown coloured cloth covered boards. Plaintext paperback binding with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. An ancient Tamil classic, contemporary with Christ, this is the first rendering into English metric verse since Dr Pope. In this translation the work is presented as poetry  a book on ethics, morals, philosophy etc. A little softening of the back strip edges and rubbing of the book corners. Tanning of the text block edges and pages commensurate with paper stock used in book's production. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and top back strip corners. Some creasing and chips to the top dustwrapper edge and rubbing to all edges and panels of the dustwrapper. The rear panel shows handling marks with some light sunning of the verso. There is a 1.5 inch tear to the lower edge of the front panel which a previous owner has repaired with tape to the verso  tape still in situ.
