They witnessed the aftermath of a US bombing run, which struck civilian areas and killed children, during their visit to North Vietnam.

Lightly creased where folded, bit of age-toning, else a very good example. The first leaf lists Gus Hall, "Steelworker" as candidate for President of the United States, and lists the African-American Jarvis Tyner, "Teamster," as candidate for Vice-President. It also lists those nominated as presidential electors. The verso of the first page has 20 lines completed in ink holograph listing Philadelphia-resident signers of the petition.

The biggest ever bombing campaign by US B-52 aircraft took place over Christmas, 1972, when the US dropped at least 20,000 tonnes of explosives on North Vietnam, mostly Hanoi.
